Thank you to our coach Jen who always makes us feel welcomed, we laugh a lot, meet and make new friends and enjoy WB, No judging, just a bunch of us getting together every week, listening and sharing life, family and health stories. Gets me out of bed on the cold Thursday mornings. Best part is the mental stimulation of learning some new skills, co-ordinating my so stiff movements and feeling good from the social aspects of playing a sport as opposed to going to a gym…..Lai
Walking Basketball for seniors is amazing. As seniors we are told ” if you don’t use it, you lose it”.. Well, there is no chance of this happening if you join this fun, pressure free, mentally stimulating, active and very social activity. Do only what you are capable of with exercise and have fun at the same time, Great coach, great club. Cannot say enough…..Viv
Compared to group fitness classes at gyms, (or anything else), Walking Basketball is 147.3% more enjoyable*(*as verified by some expert at a big University). The Walking Baketball makes everything fun and we exercise without looking at the clock ( at the group fitness at the gym, the time can drag and you think “yuk” when is this going to end?’ but at Walking Basketball you’re having fun and you are totally engaed so the time simply flies). We are blessed with very clever instruction by our coach, Jen and a bunch of like minded, fun participants. So the time flies, skills are learned, friends are made, muscles are exercised, fitness improves, skills improve and brain cells are activated…..Laurie
Walking Basketball is an important part of my regular fitness and a way I can still participate at the club as I mature. I have returned after several sureries and injured knee . i find each week my skills improve and certainly love the social contact as well…I really enjoy Rose’s baking (to die for) with our cuppa…kudos and thanks to Bulleen Basketball…..Brenda
Walking Basketball has become a priority for me. It supports physical, health and well being. Sessions led by our coach provides hand ball exercises that enhances our skills and understanding of Basketball and it rules. Our games can be competitive but finished with a laugh and a cup of coffee. I was introduced to Walking Basketball by my daughter, as both her children play competition and domestic. I enjoy attenting their games and having fun practicing with them. Never would I have imagined that Walking Basketball at Bulleen Boomers would have such a positive impact on me. What a great way for individuals of all ages and abilities to stay active in a fun way without putting excessive stress on joints. It’s great for our cognitive and motor skills and provides benefits for physical and mental health. Walking basketball has given me opportunity to socialize, make new friends and build relationships, dreating a strong sense of community. Thank you Jen ( an amazing coach) and Bulleen Boomers. Walking Basketball at Bulleen is certainly a highly worthwhile activity for older people in a safe, social and most enjoyable environment. Our members gain a higher level of fitness, learn new skills as well as improve on their current skill level, test their mental acuity and importantly develop friendships with like-minded and supportive people. I have enjoyed the sessions since Walking Basketball was introduced at Bulleen Boomers and appreciate friendships and other social aspects. Walking Basketball also forms a focus for Bulleen Basketball Club to encourage a wider section of the community to enjoy or participate in other regular cllub activities……Ann
Fabulous time together on Thursdays, with fantastic friends, fun, frolic, fitness and free coffees. Thanks to our coach Jen and all Walking Basketball mates and Bulleen Boomers for looking after us sportingly. Walking Basketball is the thrill drill which makes us jump out of bed every Thursday morning. If we rest, we rust! But motion is the joint’s lubricating lotion!
